Pottery is one of the oldest traditional handicrafts in Bahrain, dating back to more than three thousand years ago. It used to be practiced in A’ali village, also called the “Pottery Village”; and is located close to the famous A’ali ancient burial mounds.Pottery making is an inherited traditional handicraft that used to be practiced by many Bahraini families but is deserted nowadays and handed over to Asian workers. Pottery is made of high quality, pure and easy to form clay that is placed in special tanks dedicated for this purpose, mixed with water to form dough that is soft enough to be mixed with feet and formed into different patterns.
